Darren Watkins, better known as IShowSpeed, is an American streamer from Ohio. He has over 13.3 million subscribers on YouTube. He is famous for his energetic and eccentric personality. But, these traits also get him into hot waters sometimes.
As a 16-year-old, he once made controversial comments about women for which he faced a lot of criticism. However, he later apologized and moved ahead. But those statements came back haunting him after his recent collaboration with Sky Sports.

Speed recently visited the United Kingdom to watch Manchester United matches, in hopes of meeting his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. But he didn’t get to meet the Portuguese legend. Instead, he got the opportunity to do an interview with Sky Sports presenters like Geoff Shreeves.

But Sky Sports later removed all the videos related to the YouTuber. Further, they cut all ties with him after Speed’s controversial statements resurfaced on the internet. So, the YouTube streamer tweeted about these developments with Sky Sports and explained his side.

The 17-year-old wrote, ” I was 16 when that happened and made a huge mistake. It was stupid and immature. I immediately realized this and apologized. And I will continue to work on myself as I navigate this world, growing up online. I recognize that I have a responsibility to set an example to those who follow and support me.”

Speed wanted to speak with Sky Sports before they made their decision
The young YouTuber further revealed in his tweet that Sky Sports invited him to their famous comedic soccer-based talk show, Soccer AM. The Ohio-based YouTuber was looking forward to attending the show. But that didn’t happen as his relationship with the British sports channel went south.

IShowSpeed explained what he would have loved to do before Sky Sports cut ties with him. He said, “I would have loved the opportunity to have spoken with them before they made their decision.” The 17-year-old further shared about reaching out to the British sports channel and will continue this until the issues get resolved.
