The Valorant esports scene is undergoing tumultuous changes now. G2 recently announced dropping a big chunk of their North American roster and staff. This decision came to light after their Valorant squad had a poor track record in the VCT. The G2 roster has failed to earn a spot in the Americas Ascension event. Additionally, failing to land a place has also resulted in automatically ending the team’s season.

The only surviving member of the roster drop, G2 ShahZaM has come forward to talk about the team’s performance. And he is looking forward to competing in VCT once again.

Valorant pro player ShahZaM shares his feelings on the roster move

On July 7, G2’s OXY, dapr, wippie, and penny left the roster along with their coaches Dani and Immi. The only remaining person in the squad was their IGL ShahZaM. However, he too has transitioned from the role of player to streamer for G2. In his recent tweet, he shared, “Our past season definitely could have been better but I’m proud of the effort we put in.” He further apologized to the fans for dropping out and praised their support for the team.

However, the former G2 IGL is looking hopeful. He expressed that he will be streaming and waiting for a new opportunity to arise. With the words, “I’m not done!” he showed a brave front for the coming future. ShahZaM, however, is no stranger to sudden roster moves.

During his stint with the Sentinels, he was suddenly dropped from the roster. Both the org and the Valorant pro had a rather public breakup over the roster move. This time his org has decided to stick with him while giving him the position of a streamer.

Will ShahZaM return to the pro scene again?

But this move might mean G2 is looking to include ShahZaM in the future roster. Maybe the org will be building their next Valorant roster around their IGL ShahZaM and retaining him as a streamer might be the best course of action to do so. And they have this whole season to build a team, as they have been eliminated from it.
