Imminent eShop Shutdowns Could Increase the Appeal of Two Top Animal Crossings Titles to Nintendo Fans

Are you still planning on buying classic Animal Crossing titles like New Leaf and Happy Home Designer? Well, Nintendo will soon draw the curtains on adding funds to the eShop, specifically for the Wii U and 3DS family of systems. Back in May, the company already disabled adding funds to the specific eShops via credit cards.
Although users will still be able to use download codes for the time being, the same will be disabled by early 2023. As a result, the ways for fans to get their hands on two Animal Crossing classics will become extremely limited.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a social simulation game developed exclusively for Nintendo’s 3DS system. On the other hand, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a sandbox game, but is also available on Nintendo 3DS. However, these classics have been marked as one of the best-selling and fun-to-experience Animal Crossing titles. Fans wouldn’t want to miss out on such titles.
New Leaf outsold every other 3DS title in Japan during its release. It reached the mark of 3 million copies before any other 3DS game. It also sold 100 million copies in total by the end of 2013. Happy Home Designer also did well in terms of sales, making both these titles a ‘must try’ for fans.
Two Animal Crossing classics set to go ineligible for purchases soon
As mentioned before, users will not be able to use their credit cards to add funds and buy the classic favorites anymore. Instead, they will have to purchase a valid download code from other platforms (example: Amazon) and use the same to grab the games. Users who purchased physical copies of the games can use the same to play the game whenever they want.

According to Nintendo, the allowance on using download codes to purchase games on the 3DS and Wii U eShop will also be reprimanded, starting March 27, 2023. Following the same, users will only be able to download previously purchased copies of games only.
The eShops will only be active for downloading purchased products; all online transactions or using download codes will cease. As a result, fans must grab Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer as soon as possible, to avoid inconvenience.

Further, users will also not have access to download free games, DLCs, or game demos beyond March 27, 2023. However, users would still be able to access online play and receive software updates beyond the specified date.
The above-mentioned rules also apply to Animal Crossing titles available on Wii U. Three examples of such would be Plaza, Wide World, and Amiibo Festival. In addition, make sure that you get your hands on other Nintendo 3DS and Wii U titles that you always wanted to grab!
