The game is based on the original The Last Ronin comic book series, which was released in 2020. Fasten your seatbelts, because THQ Nordiq has announced the game with an official trailer at its August 2023 digital event showcase. It will arrive on the PS5, XBOX series X/S, and PC.

This game will take a completely different turn compared to the other TMNT games. We usually get to see extravagant, action-packed story lines with humour and banter. But The Last Ronin will take players to a serious, dark world of retribution.

The Last Ronin storyline is based on the future fate of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This game will depict the darker side of the franchise, where, except for one, every turtle has been killed by the Foot Clan. This final surviving member will be on his quest for revenge to kill the grandson of the iconic supervillain of the TMNT series, Shredder. The Last Ronin will fight his way through the ruined and destroyed New York City to demand the answers of his lost family. But it’s still unclear: who is going to be The Last Ronin?

The game will be a single-player action RPG inspired by God of War, according to Doug Rosen in a March interview. Fans still have to wait for the official release date.
