David Jaffe, a name that’s associated with a long list of titles celebrated in the industry to date, has made a shocking revelation through social media. It all started off with a cryptic tweet that hinted at something big happening in PlayStation’s parent company.

The first cryptic tweet read, Sad, frustrating, potentially super disrespectful news dropping tomorrow about Playstation if my sources are correct.”

Further, he also hinted that the official confirmation might come from Sony’s end in a matter of hours. Just moments after the creator posted the tweet, a series of vague speculations began surfacing. These included claims from Sony planning to sell some rights to Disney to Jim Ryan bidding farewell to his position.

Considering the wildfire curiosity, Jaffe made another tweet clearing the air. He wrote, If the news is verified tomorrow- and I think it should be- this is not DEATH TO PLAYSTATION. It’s more of a sad state of affairs and a real f*ck you to…well, let’s wait. If you love Sony games TODAY chances are, MAYBE (depends), not too much will change.”

After this follow-up tweet, fans were convinced that the God of War creator was hinting at a major and unfortunate layoff. A few hours later the Jaffe posted a video on YouTube unmasking the mystery of ‘Sony’s big loss!’

PlayStation allegedly laid off Connie Booth and the team

According to Jaffe’s claims, Connie Booth has left PlayStation after an association of 34 years with the industry giants. As a core member of the company for over three long decades, she’s a major contributor to the industry standards Sony has achieved today. But the news of her being allegedly fired from the company is nothing less than heartbreaking.

She (Connie Booth) is no longer working at Sony. Right now I don’t have a lot of details. I don’t know if she was fired or laid off. But when I heard the story everyone was telling me she was fired. And then I heard that her team was also walked out of the building,” Jaffe stated in his latest video. He later revealed that she might be getting replaced by Angie Smiths from Guerrilla Software. The creator emphasized that the news was confirmed by four of his credible sources.

If the story is accurate, Booth’s exit will bring an end to her 34-year career with Sony, which started in 1989 and included a promotion to Executive Producer in 1995. Under the heading of Product Development at Sony, Booth has held four positions since 1998: Director, Senior Director, Vice President, and SVP, Head of Internal Production.
