In a recent interview with CNBC, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger discussed the ongoing chip shortage. Following up on his previously made prediction, this time he mentioned that the problem is likely to stretch until 2024. This means that there will be added adverse effect on the availability of consoles as well as graphic cards.

Giving his reason for his new prediction, he said that it’s due to the lack of manufacturing tools. Initially, they were expected to be readily available, but it’s not the case anymore. It implies that there aren’t enough chips produced to meet the growing demand.

“That’s part of the reason that we believe the overall semiconductor shortage will now drift into 2024, from our earlier estimates in 2023, just because the shortages have now hit equipment and some of those factory ramps will be more challenged,” he said.
Last year, in October, Gelsinger predicted that the chip shortage problem will last till 2023.
