Ironmouse Fans Are Disappointed as CodeMiko Wins VTuber Award at Youtube Streamy Awards 2022

In the recent content creation and streaming meta, one of the most prominent trends is virtual influencer aka VTuber. These individuals use virtual avatars to interact with their fans rather than showing their real faces. Usually, these creators use flashy avatars inspired by various anime characters, to play games or ‘Just Chat’ with viewers in their streams. 

The trend of VTubers is so prominent in the current meta that the YouTube Streamy Awards added a whole new category, dedicated to VTubers. This year’s nominees for the Best “VTuber” were:-

  • CodeMiko
  • Ironmouse
  • Nyanners
  • Veibae
  • Zentreya

Other than CodeMiko, all the nominees were members of the VTuber group called “VShojo”. And Ironmouse was the most anticipated nomination. But unfortunately, she wasn’t the one who got to take the award home.

On Sunday, December 4, 2022, VTuber Codemiko was honored with the award of the best “VTuber” at the YouTube Streamy Awards 2022, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. This is the first year for the category which makes Codemiko the first VTuber to win a Streamy

Youna Kang is the persona behind the VTuber avatar of CodeMiko. She is a South Korean-American Twitch Streamer and YouTuber. With the alter ego persona CodeMiko, she interviews other content creators, plays games, and interacts with her viewers. Her self-made model pushes the envelope in terms of interactivity and realistic graphics in VTuber technology.

Youna developed her model using Unreal Engine, a motion capture suit from Xsens, Motion Capture gloves from Manus VR, and a facial tracking helmet from MOCAP design. Her Codemiko model consists of 36000 polygons, and it was modeled and textured using Autodesk Maya and Adobe Substance. Though initially, Kang developed CodeMiko all by herself, currently a whole team works alongside her to maintain the avatar.

Why are Ironmouse fans angry?

Ironmouse is a Puerto Rican-American VTuber and live streamer. She is the most followed English- speaking VTuber on Twitch. Ironmouse is an inspiration for all the content creators in the world.

She has a serious condition of common variable immunodeficiency, which has left her life largely bedridden. But it didn’t stop her from conquering the steaming world. She is known for her beautiful voice, friendly attitude, and charmingly devilish antics. That is why the fans of the streamer were a little disappointed when she wasn’t the one who got the award. 

But many other fans acknowledged Miko’s talents and praised her for her massive win!
