Riot just removed a map from its prized creation, Valorant, to tackle a bug abuse. The affected map, Split, is a popular one owing to its small size, and defense-centric features. With seven maps in its collection, Valorant is a diverse multiplayer shooter.

Even though players have to go through the basic mechanic of five versus five every time, the well-designed maps make Valorant a ground for new discoveries and surprises. Every player has a favorite map from the collection.

Split is easy on the defender side. However, entering the site itself could get difficult for attackers. To top it, the bug that gained traction among players was heavily favoring the defense.

New bug allowed Jett to gain a huge advantage

To give an introduction to the bug, it allowed Jett to reach the lamps in Split A-site Towers. Reaching the lamps gave Jett a heavily advantageous view from the top, which was unintended. So, any attackers who pushed through Mid-Vent could find themselves at a huge disadvantage.

Any player who plays Jett on the defense could simply sit on the lamps and use a machine gun like Odin or even a Vandal or Phantom to stop a push.

Here’s an example of how eagle-eyed fans who spotted the bug used it:

Usually, bugs and glitches in Valorant are not very easy to reproduce. Take an example of the Sage’s wall glitch in bind; it needs Sage to angle the wall in a specific way which may fail most of the times. However, in the case of the aforementioned Split bug, all Jett needs is two updrafts to reach the lamps.

Riot removes Split from Valorant queue temporarily

Riot realized things soon enough and announced the removal of Split from the competitive queue until they deploy a fix for it.

Sentinels heaved a sigh of relief, temporarily.

Haven’s good though!

In addition, fans wanted Riot to take out Fracture and Bind for their own reasons.

Some more random fan reactions.

We feel you, buddy.

A lot of strong remove-this-permanently opinions.

Valorant also received a new patch 4.11 yesterday to tackle some notable in-game bugs involving agents, including the notorious Yoru bug that allowed players to shoot while in Dimensional Drift. Riot also mentions ‘creative types’ who manage to find alternatives to Yoru’s bug and says that they’ll keep ‘a close eye on the results of these changes’.
