While not everyone is a fan of this trend, it’s here to stay for a long time to come in the future. And when it comes to the most popular faces among YouTube boxers, KSI is one individual who has amassed unmatched recognition.

But the real question is: Is Olajide seriously that good of a boxer or not? Yes, he’s not lost a single match so far, but that’s not actually a big factor in believing that he’s truly a professional, right? Let’s find out if KSI’s boxing skills are great or just good.

Fight history of KSI

Since he made his debut in boxing, in 2018, after a successful stint as a YouTuber, he’s fought five matches in total as of now. He competed as an amateur in his first two matches. He took on two YouTubers namely, Joe Weller and Logan Paul.

Against Joe Weller, KSI won by third-round TKO. While going against Logan Paul in his second career fight, the boxer ended up having a draw. However, Olajide faced Logan again. It took place at the Staples Center on November 9, 2019. It was also looking to end in a draw, but KSI managed to win by a split decision.

Earlier this year, he fought two boxers in a single day, which was a rare feat, on August 27 at the O2 Arena in London. Firstly, he took on Swarmz and defeated him with two knockouts, having a score of 2-0. Later, he thrashed Luis Alcaraz Pineda as well by the third round TKO.

Strong points about KSI in the boxing ring

Looking at his track record so far, he’s not lost a single match out of the total fights. And there are some really strong reasons for this kind of performance. Firstly, he’s got great cardio, which is an essential attribute in any combat sport.

Along with the cardio, he’s got impressive knockout skills as well. Against Swarmz and Pineda, he won both matches by knockout. It comes from his solid body structure, thus giving him a massive power to defeat his opponents in the ring. Most importantly, he’s trained professionally for years now, under many good coaches.

Weak points about KSI in the boxing ring

However, despite being unbeaten so far, KSI has got some key issues with his boxing style. One of the major factors preventing him from becoming great is his low IQ in his fights when being in the ring. Boxing relies a lot on using the right technique and strategies to make one’s opponent stunned during the match. This is where Olajide has failed on several occasions.

For example, Floyd Mayweather is considered to have the best fight IQ ever. KSI will have to work on himself for a long time if he wants to attain a level like Mayweather.

Another problem for KSI is his weak defense, for which he’s received a lot of criticism. Plus, his footwork has been mostly sloppy as well. One needs to be quick and fluid while moving in the ring. Sadly, the YouTuber-turned-boxer lacks these two qualities. Due to having bad footwork, he has faced many punches so far, despite emerging victorious in the end.

It’s safe to say that KSI can easily beat an untrained opponent who’s not very professional. In his fights, he has shown his skills of winning with his powerful punches. Plus, he’s certainly improved a lot as well in recent years.

But to achieve a level of greatness, he will have to keep working on his skills, tactics, and knowledge about his game. All things considered, he’s got a good future in boxing going forward. After all, remaining unbeaten is no joke whatsoever.
