Kniberg mentioned that Earth is just half a billion square kilometers in size. On the other hand, the world of Minecraft, although it’s a flat square, is about three and a half billion square kilometers. Which makes it around 7 times larger than the planet.

It’s actually fascinating to know, considering that the information is coming directly from one of its developers.

But that’s not it. What Kniberg mentioned is just one world’s size in Minecraft. Because every time players begin a new game, they always get a fresh map area to explore.

According to the developer, “there are 18 quintillion different unique worlds” in the 3D sandbox game. Some fans on Reddit were surprised to learn about this kind of unheard information. Most of them were just not able to understand how it was even possible, while others tried to explain it in their own theoretical ways.

Yes, Minecraft features a digital universe and they possess less space as opposed to the physical world. But, the digital worlds do take space to expand. While the Mojang Studios title is less than a gigabyte to download, it’s absolutely mindboggling how deep it stretches in terms of offering the playing area.
