Microsoft’s efforts to keep dominating the console rivalry have been quite evident. The console giant has tried to tick all the boxes on the checklist for the year 2023. From a successful Xbox Showcase to the Activision Blizzard takeover, the developers have had an eventful year. But one of their decisions has met with heavy criticism. This decision has to do with a major change in the Game Pass policy.

The Game Pass free trial duration that was changed earlier in July has met another change. Don’t worry, you will still be able to access the game pass free trial for Xbox, just not for a month. The time duration for the free trial has been brought down as confirmed officially by Xbox. Just after the news went viral across social media, fans didn’t shy away from expressing their disappointment with the decision.

One dollar per month Xbox deal wasn’t sustainable?

The developers have reintroduced Xbox Game Pass free trial policy with a modified time frame. The new package will let the players access the Game Pass for just 14 days at the same price of a dollar. The new time period of 14 days is now being advertised on the official Xbox website.

The alternative method to enjoy the free trial is still available. This method involves inviting five friends or more to sign up for the free trial instead of paying the dollar.

A Reddit user broke the news on the platform. Most of the reactions suggested that the fans were already speculating about such a move. The incredibly low barrier to entry was to encourage audience growth. Now that the company has a large audience, it wants to reduce losses and increase profits. This is a predictable pattern adapted by most console giants.
