Adapting video games into movies or TV shows is a great way to expand the fan base. From the 1995 Mortal Kombat film, to the recent The Last of Us HBO series, the list is endless, with a lot more to come.

The pipeline is already jampacked with many titles being worked on, such as God of War and Ghost of Tsushima. And now, fans will continue to get spoilt for choice with yet another video game franchise set to join the list. Zack Snyder has expressed his interest in making a movie based on an Epic Games Media Franchise.

Justice League director Zack Snyder wants to work on the Gears of War movie

Gears of War remains one of the most popular third-person shooter franchises. There was a time when gamers used to purchase Xbox consoles just to get their hands on this exclusive title. It’s a series full of exciting moments that would easily translate into big-screen action sequences.

Maybe that’s why the celebrated filmmaker Zack Snyder has mentioned his interest in making a movie based on the Gears of War games. The legendary filmmaker mentioned this during an interview with IGN. When someone asked him what video game franchise he would like to turn into a movie, his answer was simple and straightforward: he would like to direct a Gears of War movie.

And it makes sense too; he is one of the filmmakers who takes pride in stylized adaptations. He’s previously adapted 300, Watchmen, and Man of Steel.

The best part is that Netflix is already in talks to develop a series or a movie based on Gears of War. The talks are still ongoing. Actor Dave Bautista has shown interest in playing the character of Marcus Fenix, the protagonist of the Gears of War series. This means that if everything goes right, fans might get to watch an excellent adaptation of one of the greatest action video game series of all time.

Here’s hoping this deal materializes and Zack Snyder finally gets to create what he wants to. All we want is to watch yet another excellent adaptation of an excellent video game franchise.
