Newly launched Nintendo exclusive Kirby, and the Forgotten Land has marked its impressive presence in the UK. It just opened as the number one selling game in the region, while also ending the reign of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring.

Even ahead of its launch, Kirby and the Forgotten Land had received favorable reactions from most of the critics. So, seeing it as the top seller in the UK should come as no surprise to anyone. Not to mention, it’s a huge and motivating win for Nintendo.

HAL Laboratory developed the latest Kirby game and is the seventeenth main entry in the franchise. It had a lot of positive momentum going already ahead of an awaited release last week. Now that it’s out for Nintendo Switch owners, the title has proved why critics gave it a huge thumbs up.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land comfortably defeated another recently launched offering in Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. The latter opened by managing to take the second position as the best-selling title.

However, the biggest shift came in the form of Elden Ring, sliding to the third spot on the UK chart. Nintendo’s Kirby, which is also the first 3D title in its series, managed to dethrone the FromSoftware blockbuster from the first rank.

Moreover, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the biggest release in its saga ever in the UK, according to GamesIndustry.biz. It sold 2.5 times more units in the first week compared to the previous best, achieved by 2018’s Kirby Star Allies.

Unfortunately, Bethesda Softworks’ fresh launch Ghostwire: Tokyo couldn’t make it into the top ten. It ended up in the eleventh spot in terms of sales in the region.
