Konami has recently announced an Indie game contest for small developers with a grand prize of 2 million Yen (approximately $18,000 USD) and there will be only one winner. In this contest, developers have to make games based on some of the classic series of Konami, such as Ganbare Goemon, Gradius, many more.

Developers have to plan and create some unique and exciting action and shooter titles based on Konami’s older titles. Basically, it is a project to support small game developers. The contest has already started and will go on until the 6th of  January 2021 at 11:59 pm (Japan Standard Time).

Konami specified around 80 different games for developers to recreate, this includes games from Star soldiers, Twin bee, Knightmare, Gradius, and many others. The list of all the games along with details is on their entry page (in Japanese).

Participant Developers can go with remakes or even sequels of the masterpieces and they can also pick out a single character from the title. Above all, developers can change or combine multiple different genres that may not have been in the original titles. These new games from small developers could also become new commercials, so it is a great opportunity for small developers to create something extraordinary. The whole contest is sponsored by Konami and is held in cooperation with Shueisha Game Creators Camp.
