One of the biggest parts of any battle royale game today is the cosmetic items it offers in-game. When games such as Fortnite offered in-game skins for players to players, other battle royales soon began adding a lot of skins for players. Activision brought operator skins in Call of Duty Warzone as a means of giving a new spin to cosmetic items. With popular celebrities making the cut, the addition of Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage, and Nicki Minaj saw negative feedback from fans.

Fans voiced their disappointment over the addition of the new celebrity operators in Warzone. Instead of these artists, they want to see streamer operators back in the game.

With Activision regularly adding new operators into the game, this time, it brought famous rappers to the mix. Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage joined the Warzone fray as purchasable operator skins. However, while some fans liked the addition, a large part of Warzone’s fanbase does not seem to support this move.

The reason fans did not like this addition is because Activision removed streamer skins from the game. Following controversy earlier this month, streamer operators of popular creators such as Nickmercs and TimTheTatman were removed from the game. Fans dislike the idea of these skins leaving the game, especially since Nickmercs was one of the leading figures in Warzone streaming.

Fans called it a losing situation for Call of Duty. It seems fans really oppose this move, owing to their loyalty to streamers such as Nickmercs. They called it an L franchise.

While fans found the addition of Snoop back in Call of Duty Ghosts cool, they were not able to figure out Activision’s reasoning behind the operator’s skin. When these operators usually come, it brings some sort of twist to the gameplay. When The Boys collection came, it brought Homelander’s abilities.

At its heart, fans seem taken aback by the way Activision treated creators who propagated the game. Streaming played a huge role in the way Warzone gained popularity, not just in its initial days but even today. It garnered a large fanbase, especially through Nickmercs whose operator skin was removed from the game.

Another fan expressed their solidarity with the streamers by not purchasing these new skins. Their promise is to buy the operator skins of people who created the Warzone community and brought it to its current stage. It seems a rocky situation for Call of Duty today.
