While Rockstar Games refuses to comment or confirm any news surrounding GTA 6, rumors about the title continue to grow. And this time, it is about the setting of the apparent sixth edition of the Grand Theft Auto Series.

Rockstar is currently working on a brand new expanded and enhanced version of GTA 5 and GTA Online. The title was one of the biggest features in the PlayStation Showcase 2021 that revealed a new trailer along with a new March 2022 release window. But it looks like the community is more interested in finding out more about the alleged GTA 6; with the fans having new speculations every week.

GTA 6: A new setting for the title? Or just another theory?

The GTA 6 has one of the hottest topics in the Grand Theft community. Since the launch of GTA 5 back in 2013, fans have forever waited for Rockstar to announce the next title in the series. Even though GTA 5 was arguably the best GTA of all, dominating the genre since day one, a new title would be a breath of fresh air.

The latest one talks about the title taking players back to the 90s. Yes, you read that perfectly! According to Twitter user DANNYonPC, the latest trailer of the revamped editions of the GTA 5 might have included a hint at the setting of GTA6.

The number plate of the sports car in the trailer reads 61SAL890. Which they assume to be an encrypted message saying “6 is a late 90s”. More often than not, such theories lead to nothing, but one cannot completely render the argument moot, given the secrecy that revolves around Rockstar titles.

This wouldn’t be the first rumor about the game’s setting and it definitely will not be the last. If you’re one waiting for the official news, make sure to not miss out on expanded and enhanced GTA 5 and GTA Online (along with standalone) that release next year. Those are definitely real.
