Nintendo Switch OLED is not as strong as it appears to be

In a recent video, YouTuber JerryRigEverything put the Nintendo Switch OLED to the test to find out how the gaming console holds up against impacts and scratches. And the early results are not in favor of Switch OLED. Usually, OLED panels have a layer of plastic, glass, or toughened sapphire to keep the OLED panel safe if the user drops it or if there’s an accident.

The Nintendo Switch OLED comes with a layer of plastic on top. This makes the console more prone to easy scratches and increases the risk of damaging the main screen panel. This is bad news for users and potential buyers as the new Nintendo Switch OLED costs significantly more than the standard Switch.

While Nintendo has not said anything about the new screen and its durability, it would be up to the users on how they keep the screen safe and protected. One easy and cheap solution would be getting tempered glass on top of your Switch OLED screen. This will safeguard your console from minor scratches while keeping the screen safe if you drop it on the ground, to some extent at least.

All in all, the durability of the screen might even dissuade many users from buying the new OLED model, but there are other workarounds to making the screen less prone to shattering into a million pieces.
