Arcane, the animated series set in the League of Legends universe, is preparing for its highly anticipated second season. With the first season being a massive success. Fans wait in anticipation as Tencent, the parent company of League of Legends, has announced that the game will be out in the winter of 2024.

The Netflix original animated series released its first season on 6th November. Fans got a surprise announcement for season 2 during the Riot Games’ two-day Undercity Nights event. This news was unveiled just two weeks after the series premiere.

When can we expect Arcane Season 2

Recently, a tweet was made by a League of Legends leaks page stating Arcane Season 2 will premiere in the fourth quarter of 2024, around Winter. The news was allegedly announced during the Tencent Video V Vision Conference. 

The tweet has a picture of Arcane Season 2 being presented and after some translation, it is revealed that fans will have to wait at least a year for it to drop.

Some fans on Reddit have speculated the series to drop in November as season 1 premiered at the same time. In 2024, Riot Games will be celebrating the 15th year anniversary of League of Legends, making fans believe that it will be released in November around the anniversary.  

Either way, this means that fans will have to wait 3 years for season 2. Keeping in mind that Season 1 took them 6 years to make, 3 years is still a reasonable time for the way. 

The Success of Arcane Season 1

Upon launch, season 1 of Arcane immediately became the number 1 trending show on Netflix. It also boasts a perfect 100% rotten tomato rating. The series resonated with many fans of the game and also got non-players into the lore of League of Legends.

The series received many accolades, such as winning awards for all 9 categories in the Annie Awards. Season 1 of Arcane also won The Game Award for best adaptation along with two primetime Emmys for its animation. Despite the fact that the first season was a huge success, Riot Games announced that they won’t be rushing out on a follow-up. 

Although there is not much information about the upcoming season, fans can expect to see the return of Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx, Jayce, and Ekko. There are also some speculations that Season 2 will bring in Viktor and Heimerdinger to the roaster.
