Legendary Creator Behind Classics Like Bayonetta and Wonderful 101 Decides to Part Ways With PlatinumGames

Goodbyes are tough, especially for associations that brought us some classic creations. But change remains a constant in the fast-evolving gaming industry. Recently, PlatinumGames took to their official social media handle and informed about them parting ways with their co-founder. The news has left all the fans surprised as the creator confirmed the news with an emotional message. 

PlatinumGames has brought a lot of widely celebrated ideas to the virtual screens. The elite list of classics developed by the company includes the Bayonetta franchise, Astral Chain, Babylon’s Fall, Sol Cresta, The Wonderful 101, and so many more. Unfortunately, the name associated with such loved creations would be ending his run of seventeen long years with the company. 

PlatinumGames’ Co-Founder is not to be a part of the company from October!

Hideki Kamiya, the co-founder of PlatinumGames has served the company from its inception for over seventeen years now. However, the genius developer will be ending his ties with the company soon. The company first made the official announcement on social media. Addressing the split, they wrote, “We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day.”

We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavors as a game creator. We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!” the announcement concluded. 

However, the fans eagerly waited for an official statement by the director himself. Well, they didn’t have to wait for long. “This came after a lot of consideration based on my own beliefs. and was by no means an easy decision to make. However, I feel this outcome is for the best. I will continue to create in my Hideki Kamiya way. I hope you’ll keep your eyes peeled” he tweeted following the announcement.

The Legacy of Hideki Komiya 

It is important to note that there has been no confirmation as to what reasons might have led to the split. A mind like Hideki Kamiya would certainly be missed in the PlatinumGames camp. Besides directing ultimatums for their label, Kamiya also worked at Capcom in his initial booming phase. He has also directed Resident Evil 2 (1998), Devil May Cry, and Viewtiful Joe for Capcom. 

Undoubtedly, the man leaves behind a spectacular legacy with two of the most promising industry giants. It could not be a better time to celebrate his works as his journey marks a new beginning for the community. As he confirmed, he’ll be continuing to serve the industry but how?
