When it released a fan favorite in the form of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, there was no doubt it would turn out to be a massive success.

A cinematic and narrative masterpiece, Resident Evil 4 was a game that saw players jump back in without any hesitation. It looks like the game reached another achievement. Capcom has announced Resident Evil 4 reached a new milestone in sales, with the game selling over 5 million copies since its release.

Resident Evil 4 has been a fan favorite for a long time now. Ever since its initial release, fans loved the idea of the game. As a result, when Capcom announced the remake, needless to say, fans were more than just excited. In addition to the brilliant plotline, the remake offered a cinematic experience as Capcom rebuilt the entire game from the ground up. This was a visual experience, with upgraded graphics. However, that was not all there was to the remake. Capcom added new mechanics, leaving fans with a fresh gameplay experience, while keeping the same terrifying experience from the game.

When Resident Evil 4 was released, it posted massive numbers in sales. In just 2 days after its release, the remake already sold 3 million copies. In the week that would follow, there would be another million added to the tally. Finally, months after release, Resident Evil 4 crossed the 5 million mark, an extraordinary achievement for a game originally released on PlayStation 3.

What makes the remake special?

For those wondering what got the title over 5 million in sales, there is a lot for you to do with Resident Evil 4. In addition to the overhaul they brought to certain game mechanics and graphics, Resident Evil 4 also saw expansions, like The Mercenaries mode, added to the game. Moreover, Capcom allowed the potential for modders to explore the game with its PC release, making for some interesting variations of the game.
