GTA Online has been a fan favorite title since its debut nine years ago, after the main release of Grand Theft Auto V. However, Rockstar just unveiled a brand new gameplay feature and that will surely make the experience even more interesting now.

Just a few days back, the developer of Red Dead Redemption 2 shared a blog post on its main website. Under that, its team mentioned several new changes coming with the fresh GTA Online update. However, among all the options, one in particular was quite intriguing to spot.

Players will be able to take on the role of cops in GTA Online

There are multiple aspects of this online multiplayer that make it a great, fun title to engage in. Players have different options to try to do whatever they like and explore the virtual world with literally no boundaries whatsoever. However, they mostly have only one kind of role to fit in, which is either of a wanted criminal or some kind of bad guy.

But now, things are going to change in GTA Online as law and order will make itself heard very loud. That’s because Rockstar just shared a massive new detail for its upcoming update for the multiplayer. Going by the publisher’s official blog post itself, GTA Online will now allow the players to take on the role of cops instead of starting their careers as criminals.

Under the new set of Contact Missions, players will be able to play as a special IAA field operative “to investigate criminal conspiracy.” Which simply means that fans can choose what they want to be in the world of GTA Online. They can either select the option of being a bad guy or a good guy who wants to protect the city from dangerous elements.

Meanwhile, Rockstar’s main focus, at the moment, seems to be on the next big installment in the open world franchise. It’s already been a long time since fans witnessed a brand new GTA entry. But they won’t have to wait longer as the sixth main offering is now in development. However, apart from the news of its making, there’s been no other detail available regarding its gameplay or story.
