One of the inside emails has Phil Spencer talking about the importance of acquiring Nintendo. The Xbox chief highlighted the impact the Japanese giants have had in the industry and how they might be a big potential threat to Microsoft’s overall dominance in the market. Spencer added that he was in contact with Nintendo’s Leadership Team regarding a possible partnership.

However, because of Nintendo’s significant financial resources, Microsoft was unable to focus only on that firm. In any case, Spencer thought that advocating for Nintendo stocks would be advantageous for them. Adding to that, it was also mentioned that ZeniMax and Warner Bros. Games would make excellent replacements for Nintendo. Thus, the developers decided to settle with the Call of Duty makers, Activision Blizzard.
