When it comes to Nintendo’s most celebrated IPs, then Mario Kart has to be in the top three, for sure. This franchise has grown enormously ever since the first game launched years ago.

In fact, recently it was revealed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe title has now sold over 40 million units worldwide. That’s just an icing on the cake for Nintendo. Especially after witnessing a success, early in 2022, with offerings like Arceus and the new Kirby entry.

What could be in store for Nintendo’s Mario Kart series moving forward?

In case anyone missed it, the producer of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Kosuke Yabuki had an interaction with a Japanese media outlet following the announcement for the game’s Booster Course Pass DLC.

Talking about the game’s success, in relation to its milestone of selling over 40 million copies, Yabuki was quite surprised. Simply because he didn’t initially expect such a massive performance from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario Kart 8 has seen an unprecedented level of success so far in the eight years of its existence. And after this year’s DLC expansion’s arrival it seems likely that the game will continue to receive more support from Nintendo in the future as well.
