Even after gaining massive popularity before its release, Marvel’s recent launch, Guardians of the Galaxy, is lagging behind in initial sales reports. As per Square Enix’s recently uploaded sales report, Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t meet initial sales expectations. To put it simply, the widely hyped-up title is underperforming as per the sales reports provided by the publisher.

However, something worth noting here is that the report only talks about initial sales growth; after some new initiatives, the title is picking up pace. This sales growth is welcomed by the publishers as they are working to move past the game’s initial underwhelming performance.

Disappointing initial sale records of the Guardians of the Galaxy

In the official sale report by Square Enix, the company also highlighted the point that sale initiatives they launched way back in November 2021 are working in the right way. According to Square Enix, “The sales initiatives that we kicked off in November 2021 and continued into the new year have resulted in sales growth, and we intend to work on expanding sales further to make up for the title’s slow start.”

Despite getting strong reviews from critics as well as players, the title is not performing as Marvel expected it to be. As expected, this news has come as an enormous shock for all the Marvel fans, given the popularity of this title in the entertainment sector.

Well, this could mean absolutely anything. There could be a huge price cut or a surprise expansion to bring back the spotlight on the title. Only time could tell.

Well, whatever it is, it will be pretty interesting to see what Square Enix has upon its sleeves to boost the almost dead sales records of Guardians of the Galaxy. For the majority of players, this game is the dark horse of the last year (2021). Hopefully, Square Enix is already working to help make up for such a disappointing launch.
