The prospect of playing as one’s favorite superhero is not a new one. Everyone wants to be what they adore the most. Spider-Man fans are no different, and that’s why the anticipation for Spider-Man 2 is through the roof.

Developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony are making sure this hype is maintained by dropping new information about it very frequently. A while ago, fans got a couple of screenshots from the game that looked just incredible. And now some very crucial information about the game’s story has leaked. Please beware, spoilers follow.

The latest leak hints at Spider-Man 2 having a unique main antagonist!

PlayStation 5 exclusive Spider-Man 2’s list of villains is pretty long, but the most prominent ones are Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard. It is unsurprising for fans to be excited about seeing these villains in the game, considering they are the most formidable enemies of Spider-Man. Of these, however, people are most excited about the alien parasite.

The game does not leave Peter Parker alone to deal with all these enemies either; he teams up with Miles Morales on this mission. Both of them are out to save New York City as Venom takes over Peter Parker, and he slowly starts heading towards the dark side. This new leak suggests that eventually Peter is transformed into a villain, and Miles has to fight him.

This is indeed pretty heavy, but we should not forget that a while ago, a number of people were talking about the fact that Spider-Man 2 would have a much darker tone than the original.

While there have been rumors previously that talked about Harry being the Venom instead, it appears there’s a change in plan at Insomniac games now. It’s a nice twist to the game if this leak turns out to be true.

What of Wolverine, though?

While the hype for Spider-Man 2 is definitely real, a bunch of Insomniac fans cannot get over Wolverine, their best game. The last time fans saw this game was when Insomniac released a very short teaser.

There are rumors that this game will be rated M for all the bloodshed it will have. It looks like the developers have decided to keep the spirit of Wolverine alive by allowing him to shed as much blood as he can. It will be exciting to see it at launch.
