Nintendo might be developing a new 4K Switch variant

Nintendo might be currently developing a new variant of switch that would be a 4K-capable hybrid console. Nintendo released Switch OLED earlier this month, and it seems likely they won’t stop just here. Some industry experts also noted that Switch OLED was initially intended to be the Pro model, but the plan did not work out because of the global chip shortage.

YouTuber Nate The Hate claims that this 4K model that has been distributed to game developers will supposedly be the successor to Switch, the Switch 2. This new console could release anytime soon between holidays 2022 or early 2023. This model would be powered by Nvidia’s DLSS technology, allowing games to run at 4K.

There’s also a possibility that the new Switch and the upcoming upgrades can turn out to be an issue for the backward compatibility feature to work. Nintendo, however, will not let something like this slip through and definitely find a fix.

The company has denied statements related to future Switch models

Bloomberg has further reported that Nintendo indeed might be engaged in the development of future Switch consoles and games. However, Nintendo has denied all these statements via the following Tweet on 30th Sept 2021, as reported by International Business Times.

“A news report on Sept. 30, 2021(JST) falsely claims that Nintendo is supplying tools to drive game development for a Nintendo Switch with 4K support. To ensure correct understanding among our investors and customers, we want to clarify that this report is not true.”  The company also added to the tweet that there were no other models being developed apart from the newly released OLED Switch console.
