Since 1996, the Tomb Raider saga has swayed millions of gamers across the globe, thanks to the most iconic entries, featuring one of the most famous protagonists of all time, Lara Croft. So far, the series has had three trilogies: the original trilogy, the legend trilogy, and the survivor trilogy.

But now it’s time for something new, something fresh and even massive than the past installments. For that purpose, Crystal Dynamics is currently working on the next major offering in the Tomb Raider saga featuring Lara Croft. However, there’s been no crucial intel made available about the project other than the fact that it’s being developed using Unreal Engine 5. Thankfully, now we have an exciting update!

Details on the new Tomb Raider game might be revealed next year!

After the franchise went into a new direction, there’s been a lot of speculation regarding what the next project in the series could look like. While Crystal Dynamics‘ team hasn’t offered any official information yet, its recent investor meeting indicated plans for an in-depth showcase on the title, soon.

As reported by Gamerant, the developer is planning to release more information on the new Tomb Raider game featuring Lara Croft. Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers recently mentioned that players might expect some crucial intel by 2023. The upcoming installment has been in active development since earlier this year.

Previously, a few months ago, the makers had revealed their ambition to harness the power of Unreal Engine 5 for the next big entry. It means that realism will feel more believable in the new Tomb Raider game, whenever it arrives. Furthermore, fans can also expect a lifelike version of Lara Croft, compared to the older games in the franchise.

As for the story and overall plot, some theories have speculated that the next title will continue from where the Shadow of the Tomb Raider left off. However, several rumors have also hinted towards a completely new storyline for Lara Croft.
