Xbox fans in Brazil are quite disappointed with the recent Xbox news. Recently Microsoft revealed its two-SKU Xbox strategy, which was meant to target high and low-end price points. However, the strategy doesn’t seem very feasible for Brazilian Xbox fans. This is because Xbox users in Brazil will have to cut a large hole in their pockets to buy Xbox’s latest console device.

Now after acquiring Activision Blizzard, Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirmed about expanding the Xbox Game Pass ecosystem. Not only that but he promised extraordinary projects in collaboration with Activision and King. This certainly raised the excitement among fans. However, it looks like Xbox fans in Brazil need to pay quite a lot if they want to enjoy Xbox’s future projects on its latest device.

The editorial boss of The Verge, Tom Warren recently shared on his X (formerly Twitter) that Microsoft increased its Xbox Series S’s price in Brazil. He also mentioned that now Xbox Series S will cost more than $700 in Brazil since the recent price is $3599. Surprised much? Definitely!

This is because this price hike will ask for $200 more than its previous price from the Brazilian buyers. The Enemy, a Brazilian shop initially revealed the news to the public. They mentioned that they received a direct statement from Microsoft about Xbox Series S’s price hike. However, they also added that Microsoft is not increasing the price of the Xbox X Series along with that.

The Enemy shared Microsoft’s statement to the media, which said- “At Xbox, we remain focused on offering the best gaming experience at a variety of price points, so gamers can choose what best fits their gaming needs and budget,” In fact, now that Microsoft had finally made their mind, this price change will reflect in Brazil within the coming weeks. However, this price change will happen only to the 512 GB model of Xbox Series S, white. This means the device’s 1 TB model will not see any price alterations.

Fans feel disappointed with Microsoft’s recent price hike on Xbox Series S in Brazil

Microsoft’s decision to increase the price of Xbox Series S’s 512 GB model has surely disappointed fans. They were not ready for their favorite console brand to suddenly come up with such a drastic price hike for its Xbox S Series devices. And the comment thread is quite proof of that. One person commented- “Daily reminder: Microsoft is not our friend.”

People were confused about why Microsoft chose to implement this price change in a specific market.

Fans wanted to link it to Brazil’s import tax. This is because they were not ready to accept that Microsoft could purposefully do this to Brazil’s Xbox users- “Probably has something to do with Brazil’s import tax…it’s the only thing that makes sense.” Some fans sarcastically commented that it is probably Microsoft’s strategy to get back the money they spent for the Activision deal.
