Recently the news of Xbox Design Lab allowing players to customize their Elite Series 2 controllers won the hearts of the fans. The website allows players to add colors to every separate component of the controller, making them look unique as they get customized.

But as players make their own gaming consoles, it comes with a drawback. If the orders are placed, they can’t be returned. This is because since the game controller is a custom build by players, it doesn’t make sense for Xbox to cancel it when requested. Also, fans can’t use the Microsoft Currency Stored Value (CSV), Microsoft, or Xbox gift card balance to pay for an Xbox Design Lab controller.

But apart from this, Design Lab allows players to choose between a cross-shaped D-Pad or a faceted one. While also allowing custom coloring of the ring and the thumb stick/analog for the first time since its launch in 2016.

Released in 2016, Design Lab is a Microsoft-controlled website that initially allowed Xbox One players to customize their controllers as they found suitable. Later in 2020, the service went offline temporarily as Microsoft said that they will be coming back to service with “some updates.”

Then, in 2021, the service was relaunched for the players of the Xbox X and S series to let them customize their controllers as well.
