Following its acquisition of Bethesda, Microsoft increases its collection of first-party games drastically. While the team curates more first-party games, Microsoft plans to include at least one of these first-party games into the Xbox Game Pass every quarter.

Matt Booty, head of Xbox Games Studios, further elaborated the company’s strategy for the future. He explained, “In terms of the overall lineup, we want to get to a point of releasing a new game every quarter. We know that a thriving entertainment service needs a consistent and exciting flow of new content. So our portfolio will continue to grow as our service grows.”

What is the Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service for games created by Microsoft. It currently has over has 18 million subscribers and contains a library of over 100 games. This wide variety of games is accessible from the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and even via Windows 10.

Microsoft has always lagged behind Sony’s PlayStation when it comes to legendary first-party titles. However, it seems like they are doing everything in their power to shorten this gap. The recent $7.5bn purchase of Bethesda goes on to prove this.

The Game Pass will include “Role-playing games, shooters, strategy titles, adventure games, and more.” Microsoft’s aim is to “ensure that there is a steady stream of compelling exclusive content to explore.”
