Now according to a new report, Genshin Impact’s craze has reached to such a level that it’s now earning close to $1 billion every six months. That’s a huge victory for a game that released only two years ago for mobile.

Genshin Impact expands into a record-breaking success thanks to its gacha system

For the uninitiated, the title is an action-role playing game and was originally launched for various platforms like PC, PS4, iOS, and Android in 2020. It consists of an anime-style, open world setting apart from the elemental magic and character switching.

Basically, it operates on a gacha based system. Similar to loot boxes, it enables the players to receive an item through in-game currency. One can achieve the latter either by accomplishing different levels in the title or by making purchases through real-world money.

While Genshin Impact is free-to-play in general, gacha mechanics helped it grow into a successful business for miHoYo. Thanks to the lucrative rewards and appealing items that it offers, most of the players end up spending a lot than usual inside this action RPG.

According to a report by Forbes, Genshin Impact has generated a revenue of around $3 billion on mobile alone since its launch. Which means that the average amount spent by players is estimated to be $1 billion for every six months. Interestingly, it’s twice than the next popular Gacha game Lineage W, in terms of the first quarter’s revenue for 2022.

Moreover, the miHoYo title has managed to keep this momentum going for a longer period now. Only two other heavyweights, in Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile, are resulting in bringing more money.

Speaking of its intensity of growth then Genshin Impact is really swaying its players in a huge manner. Monthly active users in Q1 have increased by 44 percent year-over-year. Forbes also mentioned that the game looks likely to reach $4 billion in revenue as this year progresses forward.
