Naughty Dog’s Magnum Opus The Last of Us has finally got its much-deserved live-action adaptation and breaking the general belief. The show so far has been very impressive as it has garnered a lot of good remarks from both fans and critics. According to the fans, one of the best aspects of the adaptation is that it is as faithful as it could have been to the source material. 

Unlike the other video game adaptations, Last of Us managed to capture the essence of the original and deliver a beautiful show that is successful in respecting the original as well as presenting something new to the table. One of the biggest reasons behind pulling off this was that the show had the original team for the adaptation. 

None other than the co-writer and director of the original game, Neil Druckmann directed the recently released second episode of the show. Having the freedom of stirring the set on his own accord, Neil used the opportunity to go a little over the scripts. This resulted in many surprises for the loyal fans, including a viral ester egg relating to Uncharted. 

Uncharted Easter Egg in Last of Us

Naughty Dog’s other renowned franchise is an Indiana Jones-like treasure-hunting adventure game series called “Uncharted”. This series features Nathan Drake, an American treasure hunter as the protagonist. Nathan has many signature attributes, including a lighter with a star symbol.

Keen-eyed fans may spot this particular lighter in the latest episode of the Last of Us on HBO Max. The official Discussfilms Twitter account spotted this Easter egg and tweeted, “Tess’ lighter from Episode 2 of ‘THE LAST OF US’ is the same as Sam Drake’s lighter from ‘UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF’S END’.” (Get a look at the lighter below)

Just Like Last of Us, Uncharted also received a live-action adaptation in 2022, featuring huge names such as Tom Holland, and Mark Wahlberg but in the end, the movie failed at impressing the audience and the fans, resulting in some backlashes on the internet and the box office. Some believe that this could have been a tribute to the movies or a tease about the upcoming future of the series.
