When MrBeast officially started Team Seas with Mark Rober on October 29, 2021, he would not have expected the tremendous support it would be getting. They started out to raise $30 million for the removal of the equivalent pounds of trash. But many notable names like Twitter CEO Elon Musk and former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki also started contributing to their cause.

Thanks to the overflowing support of people, although the donations ended up on January 1, 2022, the campaign exceeded its mark. With a total donation of over $33 million, all the proceedings have gone to organizations Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup for cleaning the water bodies. Now MrBeast and Mark Rober have come forward to give a milestone update about the campaign.

When the donations phase closed, a much more important phase of the Team Seas campaign started. It was the cleaning of the oceans with the help of volunteers and members of organizations taking part. Now the campaign is halfway through its goal and has cleaned a whopping 15.1 million pounds of trash from 63 countries!

Both MrBeast and Mark Rober released a video thanking the volunteer for their service. MrBeast also urged his followers to not forget the efforts of Team Seas and keep on aiding for cleaner oceans.

Although in the video MrBeast and Mark Rober can be seen cleaning up beaches, the actual process is far more complex than that. The two contributing organizations have divided up this humongous task among themselves. While Ocean Conservancy has taken charge of cleaning beaches and oceans, The Ocean Cleanup has opted to clean river bodies of the countries.

The trash collected from both bodies will be recycled to the best of their abilities, with the non-recyclable ones being disposed of in accordance with local regulations and capacity. The cleanup, which began on January 2022, is aiming to achieve its goal in three years. And looking at the current pace, there is nothing stopping them from accomplishing it earlier.
