Following the discovery made by netizens, MrBeast came clean on Twitter recently. He shared that the changes pointed out are indeed happening and the reason behind them is watch time. He shared the videos with closed mouths are garnering more views. Furthermore, he cheekily said, “My mouth is now closed in all my thumbnails but the war has just begun. We must not rest until mouths are closed in everyone’s thumbnails.” 

He followed up his watch time claim with more results. He consistently tested out different thumbnails and saw what the audience liked. MrBeast even went on to say, “My mouth would have closed years ago if I had this tool.” With this revelation, MrBeast has waged an all-out war against the shocked face meta he popularized.
