The head of Respawn Entertainment (which is a subsidiary of EA), Vince Zampella, has recently announced that Criterion Games, the developer company behind Need for Speed, is going to join the developing team of Battlefield. They are going to work alongside existing developers like DICE, Ripple Effect, and Ridgeline. All these teams will be led by the General Manager of Battlefield at EA.

According to Zampella, collaborative technology and an engaging experience will be implemented to fully focus on the renowned first-person shooter series. And their first and foremost priority is Battlefield 2042, as they continue pre-production on a connected Battlefield universe. This whole bunch of developer teams have also started foreseeing the future of Battlefield. Zampella expressed his excitement: “We’re all-in on Battlefield.”

Criterion Games has a rich and superior work profile to boast about. They are the main force behind some popular titles like Battlefield, Battlefront, Burnout, and, of course, Need for Speed. That’s why Zampella thinks, “There is no better studio to join us on this journey, and I couldn’t be more excited.”

As reported, the majority of the developers from Criterion Games will jump into the Battlefield. But that doesn’t mean the wheels are going to stop rumbling. A small core group within Criterion will continue their work on the highly esteemed racing game series. This aspect was also supported by the head himself. Zampelle also expressed his passion for cars and how he wishes to join this core group in the future as they “shape what’s next for the franchise.”
