Infinity Ward and Activision’s upcoming title, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has been subjected to a lot of leaks in the past few weeks. The only official news regarding the title is that it will be launching in 2022. However, all the leaked information has been given out or confirmed by notable insiders. Hence, fans have fewer reasons to ‘not believe’ in those succulent bits of details. 

Call of Duty is undoubtedly one of the most popular FPS franchises of all time. And the popular ones are always, in some way or the other, vulnerable to leaks. While it is not how the publishers or developers intend to roll, it’s probably impossible to control the same. Moreover, a small leak here and there is extremely exhilarating to know, especially for fans! 

In recent updates, a prominent leaker has led COD fans into believing that the upcoming Summer Game Fest may have an exciting showcase lined up for them. To be precise, we may get to see substantially long Call of Duty Modern Warfare II in-game footage in the upcoming event.

The game is slated to release on October 28, 2022. In addition to the obvious bits of information scattered throughout the video, there was an interesting not-so-obvious hint. 

Many noted a code “J-8-22” that showed up at 45 seconds into the video. As many fans would suggest, it’s a date for the reveal. Considering it’s a date, there could be two options, with one being June 8 and the other being July 8.

In other related news, another interesting rumor regarding Call of Duty Modern Warfare II sprung up yesterday. It claimed that the game may be a part of the upcoming State of Play (Sony) event on June 2.

However, a notable industry insider (reportedly) quickly dismissed this claim. 

Interestingly, Ralph had previously claimed (on May 23) that the Summer Game Fest 2022 will feature around 4 mins of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II footage. Shortly after he dismissed the rumor by General Gaming News, Ralph replied to his previous tweet with an update. He stated that the reveal will consist of pure in-game footage and the runtime will be 7 minutes.

What’s the verdict?

Clubbing all things that we have here, it is worth noting the code that showed up in the artwork reveal video. It definitely looks like a date! As the most popular guess suggests, we may get to see a trailer/teaser on June 8, followed by in-game footage reveal on June 9 at the Summer Game Fest. 

If not, something interesting could be slated for July 8 instead. Since these are all speculations, we advise you to take all the leaks and supposed reveals lightly to avoid disappointment!
