

Delays in video game production are quite common and can happen due to a multitude of reasons. However, one popular Star Wars game remake, supposedly under production for more than three years with a release date in 2022, has now reportedly suffered an unfortunate delay for an uncommon reason. And, as expected, fans aren’t very happy.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a popular series of role-playing games based on original Star Wars lore as penned by George Lucas. The first game in the series was released in 2003, followed by several other installments in subsequent years. In fact, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has always been one of the greatest Star Wars games to be ever made.

Asphr, the developers behind the remake, announced the upcoming experience back in September 2021’s PlayStation Showcase. Although the trailer was mesmerizing and allowed fans a spectacular glimpse of what was coming, a release date was kept away. Now, new reports suggest that Ashpr was planning to launch the remake as early as in 2022.

As it happens, things didn’t go accordingly, as Asphr had to halt all their plans for the much-anticipated remake. As fans took into consideration a report from Bloomberg, they wonder what the future of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is, currently.

According to a popular report, Asphr has recently fired two directors of their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake team. Two of Asphr’s studio heads announced, in a series of internal meetings, that the project is now on a pause. Moreover, Asphr is reportedly also looking for new contracts and development opportunities, as per the Bloomberg report.

In addition, a popular statement from the report suggested a new release window for the remake, now expected to launch in 2025. Well, it is possible that the team is planning to start the project from the very beginning with a clean slate.

The remake’s release this year would have made many Star Wars fans happy. Although the initial release would happen on PC and, as a timed-exclusive on PlayStation 5, an Xbox release wasn’t unimaginable. But, the project hasn’t been scrapped yet. If things work out, fans will get a chance to play the game as soon as it is ready.
