Newly Launched Pokémon Remakes Set Fire to Sales Charts Ahead of Black Friday

Pokémon has become the highest selling game in the UK, and it looks like fans are loving it. It’s a significant milestone achieved by developer ILCA and publisher Nintendo. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl achieved the top positions on the sales chart in the UK, and that too super fast. In fact, the devs launched both the games just 3 days back on 19th Nov 2021.
Both the games took no time to become the best-selling games ahead of the Black Friday sale. On 22nd Nov 2021, Christopher Dring, who is a video journalist at GamesIndustry, shared this news through a tweet.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond (No.1) & Shining Pearl (No.2) are the 2 best-selling boxed games in the UK last week, which means Battlefield 2042 has to settle for No.3. Combined launch sales for the Pokémon games are down 26% over Sword/Shield, and up 13% over Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu

The most surprising part is Pokémon Brilliant Diamond achieved this position alone without including the sales of Pokémon Shining Pearl. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is first on this list, followed by Pokémon Shining Pearl, which is in the second position. As of now, Nintendo has not released the exact numbers of the total sales of both the games. But fans can expect some updates in the coming few days.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: biggest launch of the year?
Both the games together make the second biggest launch of the year 2021. Meanwhile, FIFA 22 is the biggest launch of the year 2021, according to GamesIndustry. GamesIndustry also put things in perspective by comparing the release sales numbers with those of prominent titles launched back in the day.
“Compared with other mainline Pokémon releases on Switch, launch sales are 26% down over Sword and Shield, which were the big new Pokémon games released in November 2019.”
