Nintendo just announced a beloved Pokémon game from the ’90s for the Nintendo Switch. Well, fans did receive a sequel to the original Pokémon Snap last year. However, there’s always something special about the original itself. As expected, the announcement led to fans having a feeling of childhood nostalgia.

Pokémon Snap was originally released for Nintendo 64 systems back in 1999. Players assumed the role of Todd Snap, tasked with clicking photographs of Pokemon. Under the guidance of Professor Oak, players could explore Pokémon Island, designed as a sanctuary for wild Pokémon. Moreover, players could catch over 60 different Pokémon in Snap.

As mentioned before, the existing sequel to Pokémon Snap is uncreatively titled New Pokémon Snap. It explores a different region from the original, Lentai. It also includes additional features like glowing Pokémon and biomes, ability to edit and share Pokémon photos that one clicks, a travel pod and much more.

When will Pokémon Snap release?

Nintendo announced the 1999 gem on Friday, a little more than a year after the sequel released for the Switch. The good news is that fans will not have to wait longer to get their hands on Pokémon Snap. The first-person game will release on June 24, as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.

Pokémon Snap, releasing next week, will be available only for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. It will be the 16th addition to the N64 lineup for the modern Nintendo console.

Earlier this year, The Pokémon Company had announced that they have managed to sell over 440 million Pokemon-software units by March 2022. With Pokémon Snap adding in to the long lineup, the franchise is yet to see a lot more success in the future.
