Nintendo Adds More Nostalgia to N64 Switch Library With Brand New Mario Gems

Although Nintendo has delivered some of the most popular Switch titles in 2022, the Japanese giant has also made sure that retro gamers are not left behind. To lure more players to its NSO platform, the developer and publisher has come up with the best classics from the N64 era.

Continuing the pattern further, Nintendo has now introduced two gems from the past in the modern era. The Nintendo Switch Online has now received hits from the beloved Mario Party N64 series, which is more than two decades old!

N64 classics Mario Party 1 and Mario Party 2 are now available on Nintendo Switch Online

In case the current generation of players is not aware, Mario Party franchise began in 1998, developed by Hudson Soft. In North America, the first game of this series was released in the year 1999. Shigeru Miyamoto served as the development supervisor on this N64 project. The original game featured six playable characters. Alongside Mario, there were Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong.

Following the success and positive reception of the first N64 entry, Nintendo later released a sequel, Mario Party 2, in 1999. A year later, it made its debut in North America. This game also managed to receive positive reviews for its overall improvements compared to the first installment.

And now, the franchise has made its return, once again, on the Nintendo Switch Online with a re-release. The Japanese giant has expanded its N64 Switch library by relaunching Mario Party 1 and Mario Party 2. They both are now available on the Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Both the classics are supported by Switch Online functionality as well as four-player multiplayer. In the first entry, players get to join Mario and friends across nine Adventure Boards and 56 mini-games.

On the other hand, in the sequel, Nintendo fans will get to join Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends as they return for another round of Bowser-bashing board game adventure.
