According to Furukawa, it wasn’t the case. He was asked about the production of the Switch hardware last year. And he said that it was as per expectations and the demands.

However, he did point out that during the holiday season, when the sales are on their peak, they faced some variations in different regions.

For example, in Japan and Europe, “there were temporary scarcities of Nintendo Switch–OLED Model, but in general, for the Nintendo Switch family overall, we were able to produce and supply enough hardware to meet demand”.

And yes, he acknowledged Nintendo faced problems of supplying more Switch units in the US. It was during the period after thanksgiving when there were shortages. Hence, in December, they couldn’t meet the demands of the potential buyers.

Furukawa also stressed the fact that the semiconductor situation may affect them this year. Because there is still no solution to this massive problem.

Nevertheless, he emphasized on the accomplishment of them being able to produce as many Nintendo Switch units in 2021’s holiday season as a year ago.
