Plenty of games take us through a journey of survival amidst the chaos. But a very few fortunate essentials from the gaming community live through such harrowing tales in real life. A Nintendo Game Boy is something that all Esports lovers might resonate their childhood with. Today, we go through a tale of one such Nintendo Game Boy that lived a life not any less than a hero.

If you have ever been to the Nintendo store in New York, then you might just recognize the veteran. The Game Boy was kept as an exhibit at the store with its heroic tale of survival. It was a major fan attraction for all the eSports lovers across the world. But in a recent tweet that has surfaced on social media, fans find out the classic Game Boy has been sent to its retirement home.

A Twitter user on his recent visit to the Nintendo New York store noticed the Game Boy missing from the exhibit. Upon digging further the user was informed about the survivor’s retirement. The Nintendo Game Boy had been long sent back to its retirement home, Nintendo Headquarters in Washington.

Sharing the information, he tweeted, “The Gulf War Game Boy has officially been retired from @NintendoNYC. After not seeing it on display for a while, I asked one of the workers about it. He told me it was returned to Nintendo’s headquarters in Redmond Washington.”

Amidst the horrors of the 1991 Gulf War, the infamous episode of Nintendo Game Boy remains intact in the industry. The original Game Boy was nearly destroyed in barracks bombing during the war. The toy was damaged to the point of being worthless by the fire scorching its plastic shell, exposing the motherboard, melting the A and B buttons, and melting the D-pad buttons.

The medical aid team had stored and sent the Game Boy to Nintendo for repair. The technicians who first worked on repairing the survivor Game Boy were stunned with astonishment as it still worked.

It is still unbelievable how the plastic structure survived the mighty 1991 Gulf War. Fans have always called this survival story nothing less than a “miracle.” It is something beyond just a regular Game Boy as it is symbolism for the historic significance of the love for eSports. The industry has definitely come a long way ever since but such exhibits would keep on inspiring gamers for generations.
