The Last of Us received much attention last year when a bizarre knock-off of the game, The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival, hit the market. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us ruled fans’ hearts for years, making the franchise quite successful. However, Nintendo Switch’s replica of the same didn’t do very well.

Considering how the original game is a fan-favorite, it’s no surprise that the clone was not able to meet the high standards. Fans heavily criticized the developers of the knock-off, forcing Nintendo to take a hard decision about this Switch-exclusive title.

The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival’s bad performance almost made fans question Nintendo’s intention to make it a Switch exclusive. Initially, developers tried to add a backstory of time travel to differentiate it from The Last of Us. However, the comparisons were still made, which brought some serious aspects of the game’s drawbacks. Fans complained about poor gameplay and graphics, which was a big blow to the developers.
