Nintendo Switch crosses the 20 million mark in Japan

It’s been a long journey for Nintendo and after years of hard work the company has finally sold more than 20 million units on the Switch console in Japan. It took about 222 weeks (4 years and 3 months) for Nintendo to reach this mark.

Naturally, the popularity and sales for the Switch console will continue to rise as the developers have planned a mighty future ahead. We will see the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl on November 19 later this year. Moreover, Splatoon 3 will also release at the start of the next year. Both of them have a huge fanbase and Nintendo is set to reach new heights after their release.

As of now, Nintendo Switch has sold 16,168,420 units while Nintendo Switch Lite has given its contribution with 3,849,858 units. Furthermore, Animal Crossing: New Year’s Forest has sold most units about  6,778,146 units in cumulative domestic sales of software for Nintendo Switch.

New Horizons has given its fair amount of contribution in increasing the Nintendo Switch console sales. It has proved many people wrong after defeating popular games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury in sales. ACNH took the first position in UK physical charts just after celebrating its one-year anniversary a few months back.

Furthermore, with the hype of E3 2021 going around it seems like the game will again reach the top. If Nintendo decides to announce anything game-changing related to New Horizons in its presentation at E3, fans will go crazy, thereby skyrocketing its sales.

Nintendo has released several bangers over the years, including ACNH. It’s not new for New Horizons to demolish other popular games to rise to the top. In the past, even after tough competition with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War with an enormous fan base in the region, ACNH has always shown its dominance. Therefore, we might see a surge in Nintendo’s life simulator game’s popularity after E3 2021.
