Nintendo Switch and Animal Crossing: New Horizons Achieve New Milestones in Japan

Nintendo is having a blast this year with consistent success over the last few months. At the beginning of 2022, it revealed a blockbuster in Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the Switch fans. And then it launched two more smash hits in Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Switch Sports. All three of them are currently performing tremendously in terms of global sales.

Well, it’s not the just games that are bringing the revenue for Nintendo. Its most popular console in the modern-day era, the Nintendo Switch, is also leaving no stone unturned in making the publisher proud.

Now a recent report from Famitsu has revealed that Nintendo Switch has gone past 25 million sales in Japan, the home of the Mario maker. Simply put, the console has now sold over 25 million units in the Asian country. That’s a remarkable achievement for this device, being in its sixth year of launch.

Moreover, Nintendo’s popular online simulation hit Animal Crossing: New Horizons also emerged as a major winner in Japan. The insanely famous game has now sold over 7.26 million units in the country. Not to mention that it’s the top-selling title in the region. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ended up at the second spot with 4.89 million units sold.

Furthermore, Mario Kart managed to grab the third position in the list with 4.66 million sold units.

In other news, Nintendo is currently preparing for the arrival of its next batch of awaited titles. There’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Splatoon 3 alongside a brand new installment in the Pokemon Saga. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be a crucial entry in the beloved gaming franchise. It’s set to release later this year for the Switch.
