While it has managed to reign supreme in terms of sales in most countries, there are some markets where it’s yet to reach the top of the list. Japan is one such region where Nintendo Switch is yet to claim the first position.

However, the console just took a huge leap toward the crown of best-selling hardware in Japan.

As reported by Video Game Charts, translated from Famitsu, Nintendo Switch has now become the 3rd highest selling console ever in the Asian nation.

The Nintendo DS and GameBoy are still on top, with 33 million and 32 million lifetime sales, respectively. But the Switch is now only 8 million units behind them. Considering the possibility of there being no successor of the Switch until 2024, it seems likely that it has a good chance of finishing the job.
