It is no secret that Nintendo stands as the leader of handheld consoles in the market. This is because their legendary creation, the Nintendo Switch, broke record after record in the market. The switch became an instant hit for fans, thanks to its liberty of use. Compared to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, they could easily take their favorite games to any part of the world.

Looking at this, Nintendo had a strong belief that its hard work would pay off, and now, it looks like it has. According to a detailed report by TweakTown, the company has reported a total sale of $69 billion from the Switch family!

Nintendo Switch – The billion-dollar journey from 2017 to 2023

In 2017, Nintendo had a dream of revolutionizing the handheld console industry, leading to the birth of the Nintendo Switch. It was nothing like the previously released 3DS, Wii U, or anything more. So, the franchise bet all its money on it, hoping for a promising future.

Now, after seven years of release, the company has revealed the numbers, and they are nothing short of perfect. Starting with the hardware, Nintendo sold 125.62 million units. This milestone started a debate on the internet, with fans expecting Switch to beat 3DS. Apparently, the 3DS sold 154.02 million units, leading them to anticipate the new handheld console to cross it in FY 2025. However, the Japanese giant has claimed the number to decrease in FY 2024 in comparison to its previous years.

Not to forget the recently released Tears of the Kingdom, as it became one of the highest-rated games in the industry. And given the time from when Switch started, the console has amassed 1.036 million game sales.
