Nintendo Switch is still behind Nintendo DS

Nintendo Switch is not only competing against other companies’ consoles, but it’s also battling against its predecessor. Despite the massive demand for the latest Nintendo console, it is not the highest-selling console in the company’s history. Nintendo DS remains the highest-selling console by the Japanese video game company.

Nintendo released this console in 2004 and was in the market until Nintendo 3DS succeeded it in 2011. The Japanese giants have sold over 154.02 million DS units globally. Meanwhile, Nintendo’s latest console, Switch, has only sold over 110.95 million units, meaning it’s still 43 million units behind DS sales.

Nintendo Switch currently falls short of DS when it comes to sales. However, there is an increased demand for the latest Nintendo console. So, Switch might soon catch up to its predecessor. Many thought it might be challenging, as the Japanese multinational could not meet the enormous demand, leading to a skyrocketing price.

However, the Big N has assured its fans that it won’t be the case and that players will continue to get this hybrid console at its original price. So we might need to wait a few more years before seeing Nintendo Switch beat DS and take the throne as the most-selling Nintendo console in history.
