Nintendo seems to be riding on an invincible chariot right now. At least it seems to be the case considering the unprecedented success all its releases are achieving in 2022.

Firstly, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, then Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and now Nintendo Switch Sports. The Mario maker has probably struck a hat-trick of hits this year.

Nintendo Switch Sports, which made its debut last week, has opened at the number one spot in the UK sales. It also implies that it outperformed other heavyweights, even including its own Nintendo counterparts as well.

For those uninitiated, Switch Sports is the sequel to the Wii Sports title from 2006. Played with the Joy Con controller, it offers various sports to enjoy solo, with friends or family members like soccer, badminton, chambara, golf, among others.

Now, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo Switch Sports just made a staggering debut in the United Kingdom in terms of boxed sales. The latest Nintendo offering clinched the first position while managing to keep other competitors behind. Furthermore, it’s the third biggest launch in the UK for its own franchise. Only Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are ahead of the newest entry.

Additionally, Nintendo Switch Sports sold double than even what Mario Superstars could sell. And it has sold eight times the figure of Just Dance 2022 that was released last year. Also, its sales are six times more than Ring Fit Adventure’s opening week numbers in the UK.
