Nintendo Switch Will See A New Pokémon Game Release in June

Nintendo was one of the big developers in attendance at E3 2021. Among the various announcements the company made, was a new Pokémon title for the switch. The game is called Pokémon Unite and is set for release in June on the Nintendo Switch. Android and IOS users will also be able to play the game but they can expect to see it sometime in September.
Pokémon Unite is a team-based, five vs. five strategy game. It is a joint project by Nintendo and Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group. Both Nintendo Switch and mobile players will be able to play against each other as the game features cross-play. Furthermore, it supports cross-progression, which means that you can continue your progress from where you left off using any of the supported platforms.

Pokémon Unite announced for Nintendo Switch and mobile
While the game will be free to download, it will feature in-game purchases. Since Fortnite popularized the battle pass concept, tons of games have implemented it. Pokémon Unite will also feature a battle pass with unlockable rewards. Players can purchase the “Aeos gems” currency which will help them progress through the battle pass faster. These gems can also e earned from playing the game itself.

“In this game, players face off against each other in 5-on-5 team battles. During battles, players will cooperate with teammates to catch wild Pokémon, level up and evolve their own Pokémon, and defeat opponents’ Pokémon while trying to earn more points than the opposing team within the allotted time.”

Pokémon fans would have been thrilled to hear about the new game at E3. However, those expecting the Nintendo Switch Pro console were massively disappointed when there was no mention of it at E3. At the event, the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character, Kazuya Mishima, was revealed. Furthermore, Hyrule Warriors 2: Age of Calamity had two packs of DLC announced.
